Sound the drums, oh ye half clothed people,
My people,
Sound the drums
For the legend has passed,
The queen of Kenyan literature,
Has joined the very gods she wrote about,
The pen still lies, dripping blue ink,
And the blank paper,
It still is on the table,
Sound the drums my people,
Come out in your numbers and naivety,
Scream and wail, in I’ll your ability,
Mourn the whitest of the queens,
And the brightest of the twins,
For the queen of Kenyan literature,
Has joined the very gods she wrote about,
Cease your tears now, oh my half-clothed people,
She will come back to birth,
The pen will once again glimmer,
And the white paper shall be saturated with ink,
For the whitest of all white, shall truly come back to life,

                                                                                 Rest in peace,
                                                                                 Marjorie oludhe
